The April 15, 2009 deadline for individual tax returns to be file your Federal and CT Tax Returns has now passed.  Even at this time we can prepare your tax return and electronically file it at no additional cost.  If you owe additional tax the sooner you file will reduce any interest and penalty. We can be reached in either our Newington or Bristol offices. 

June 2009

June 15 is the deadline for mailing your second estimated tax payment for individuals for both Federal and CT payments.  If your income or deductions have changed significantly since your tax return was prepared your estimated tax payment may change.  Changes can be made in the remaining estimated tax payments if your circumstances change.  For FDM clients call us if this applies to you and we can recompute your estimated tax payments.

April 2009

The new tax withholding tables should now be providing employees with a larger net paycheck courtesy of the Stimulus Plan passed by Congress in February 2009.


For people receiving Social Security benefits in late May or early June the Social Security Administration (SSA) will be distributing a $ 250 payment.  No forms are required for this benefit.  For more information contact Social Security at www.ssa.gov

March 2009

The Internal Revenue Service on March 3, 2009 released a new publication 15T which is the new tax withholding tables for employers.  The publication will be mailed to employers and a copy is available in pdf format by clicking here.  Federal tax withholding will decrease for workers as a result of the new law and the new withholding tables.

Are you unemployed and without medical insurance?  A new law may allow you to obtain medical insurance with the government paying 65 percent of the premium for nine months.  Ask your former employer or click here for information from the U.S. Department of Labor.

Late Filing of Tax Returns -

2008  Tax Returns:

If you were unable to file your 2008 tax return by the April 15, 2009 deadline we can help.  Call us to make an appointment to bring in your information and we can prepare the tax return for you.  E-Filing of 2008 tax returns is still available and we can review with you your options for paying any balance due (if applicable).

2007 Tax Returns:

The deadline for filing individual income tax for 2007was Tuesday April 15, 2008. Most state tax returns are also due on April 15, 2008. If you did not file your tax return or an extension by April 15 then it is time to prepare and file the tax return(s) as soon as possible. This may reduce any related penalties and interest if you have a balance due. If you want us to prepare your tax returns call us. We are open year-round to assist you. We are an authorized E-File provider and if you elect to have any refunds direct deposited into your bank account you will receive your refund faster and without additional fees and charges.

    Our focus is on providing local personal service and we provide a professional staff and year round service for our clients. We are open year-round   We do provide electronic filing of tax returns and with direct deposit of any refunds you have your money within several weeks of the tax returns being filed (usually) without paying extra fees.


    We can prepare your tax return either in person, drop off of material or by mail. For new clients we recommend an appointment with one of our associates. For returning clients we can provide you with a tax organizer and you can mail in or drop off your information. Our rates are competitive with other professionals in the area.  Our fees are based on the amount of time the return takes to prepare, not based on the amount of refund or income.  We are an authorized efile provider and do not provide refund anticipation loans.

    The first estimated payment for individuals and the self-employed (Form 1040) for 2009 was due on April 15, 2009.
